All cores are co-ed during the Summer semester!

We call our small groups cores because we believe they are the core of our community. Core groups meet for an hour weekly to share life, study the Bible and pray for one another. It’s a great place to build authentic friendships, learn about God, and grow in your faith. The vision of our cores is to create a place where everyone in our community can be known, cared for, and have the opportunity to grow in relationship with God and one another.

TUESDAY NIGHT FELLOWSHIP

We gather weekly at TNF (Tuesday Night Fellowship) to worship (sing Christian songs), hang out, and learn together through a short teaching from the Bible. If you are currently a follower of Jesus, this is a great place to grow as a disciple within a community right here on campus. If you are interested in spirituality, this is a great place to explore the Christian faith and make great friends. Everyone is welcome!

PRAYER SPACE

Come grow in intimacy with God during a prayer hour and participate in one of the greatest acts of love, praying and inviting God to move in powerful and profound ways in your life and in the lives of your fellow students. Prayer is for everyone—no matter where you are in your faith, you’re welcome here!

ALPHA

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Each session is designed to create conversation through a short talk and questions around the table. Over several weeks you can expect relevant topics, relatable hosts, and a relaxed environment to explore and discuss life’s big questions together. Is there more to life than this? Who is Jesus? How do I have faith? Everyone is welcome!

1 ON 1 DISCIPLESHIP

We believe in the importance of setting aside time to meet one-on-one with each other to build relationships and accountability. Our staff, leaders and members meet regularly with one another to talk about honest questions, study a Biblical topic in more depth or simply build better friendships.

SOCIALS

Another way we build up our community is through fun social events! These are a great starting point for newcomers to get to know our community, as well as a fun way to stay connected with old friends. Stay tuned on Facebook and Instagram for upcoming social events throughout the year—everyone is welcome to be a part of our UCM community!

WORSHIP NIGHTS

One of the primary ways we express our love to the Lord as a community is through regularly worshipping Him in song and prayer. UCM hosts at least one “UCM Worship Night” a semester. These happen both on and off campus, and are generally marked by extended worship sets, along with space for prayer and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Please stay tuned to our social media accounts and our website for information on when our next worship night is happening!

OUTREACH

We exist to make the name of Jesus known, both to our peers and around the world. UCM serves our campus, our city, and beyond in both word and deed. One regular rhythm of UCM is to host what we call “Missions Week” each semester. During this week, our students intentionally find ways to love SFU, and to share about Jesus with their peers. UCM also offers evangelism training for those who have never engaged in this before. Each semester we are overjoyed at the testimonies of how Jesus has met with students who don’t know Him.

UCM also offers students the opportunity to serve on a Missions Trip each year.

In recent years, we have sent teams to:
2017 – Thailand
2018 – Myanmar
2019 – China
2020 – Vietnam (cancelled due to COVID)
2021 – Vietnam (virtual experience)
2023 – Bellingham
