We call our small groups cores because we believe they are the core of our community. Core groups meet for an hour weekly to share life, study the Bible and pray for one another. It’s a great place to build authentic friendships, learn about God, and grow in your faith. The vision of our cores is to create a place where everyone in our community can be known, cared for, and have the opportunity to grow in relationship with God and one another.
Tuesday Night Fellowship
We gather weekly at TNF (Tuesday Night Fellowship) to worship (sing Christian songs), hang out, share a meal, and learn together through a short teaching from the Bible. If you are currently a follower of Jesus, this is a great place to grow as a disciple within a community right here on campus. If you are interested in spirituality, this is a great place to explore the Christian faith and make great friends. Everyone is welcome!

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Each session is designed to create conversation through a short talk and questions around the table. Over several weeks you can expect relevant topics, relatable hosts, and a relaxed environment to explore and discuss life’s big questions together. Is there more to life than this? Who is Jesus? How do I have faith? Everyone is welcome!
1 ON 1 DISCIPLESHIP
We believe in the importance of setting aside time to meet one-on-one with each other to build relationships and accountability. Our staff, leaders and members meet regularly with one another to talk about honest questions, study a Biblical topic in more depth or simply build better friendships.
Another way we build up our community is through fun social events! These are a great starting point for newcomers to get to know our community, as well as a fun way to stay connected with old friends. Stay tuned on Facebook and Instagram for upcoming social events throughout the year—everyone is welcome to be a part of our UCM community!

We volunteer as a part of Red Frogs Canada to serve students where help is needed. For example, we help residence students move in each year and create a welcoming environment for students through pancake breakfasts and coffee stations. To protect against the harmful effects of excessive alcohol consumption, we also hand out water and free snacks during campus parties and provide safe walks home.
Our primary mission is to serve students on the campuses of SFU but we also have a heart for sharing hope with those further away, whether that’s on the campuses of American universities or overseas. Last year, a short-term UCM team partnered with local missionaries in Southeast Asia, teaching English in order to build relationships and identify students whose hearts were hungry for Jesus. The team was able to experience deep relational connections, many cultural experiences, and tons of God stories!
